Thanks for everyone’s comments. I want to thank Adyrenn and Pj for a great call. This was a great way to kick off our telesummit “virtual syposium” The comments about what do you cure are especially helpful. This idea of thinking the process through from the perspective of your clients is so important. What is the worry or concern, what are they going to be searching for that would eventually lead them to you and what you offer. Excellent!

    • PJ Van Hulle says:

Thanks, Liz! It’s great to have you in our community of niche marketing rock stars! : D

  • Thank you, that was very useful information. I particularly liked the clarity in the question “What do I cure?” That will keep my mind spinning for days.

    • Wendy says:

I agree with Kerry. That was particularly a useful bit of information when figuring out how to reach my clientele. Thank you!

  • Margaret Owen says:

so if I comment/post on a particular brand of cruises on a regular basis, I’ll start showing up on their newsfeed?

  • nysha says:

how do you add more words to your search in google ad

    • PJ Van Hulle says:

Do you mean the keyword tool?

I test out one that I think might work, like “niche marketing” for this online event and then see what other related keywords Google offers and the stats for each.

I look for relatively low competition (Adryenn recommended <50%) and relatively high traffic.

      • nysha says:

no to add more words to my own particular website that are keywords. meaning i think there is somewhere on google you can add more and more words so when someone types them your site pops up.

        • nysha says:

maybe i mean search engine optimization?

  • So if you are perceived wrongly and too generalized, you need to work on drawing them toward
your actual specialization–how would you preceed?

    • Online, it only matters what Google (and the other search engines think of you), so yes, if you are perceived wrongly you need to redo your site keywords. Start with the title of your site, and the title on each page, as well as the titles of blog posts.

  • nysha says:

I am currently enrolled in HMBA with Stacey and Carey and LOVE it and want to thank you for letting me listen in today! Just hoping I can work on my niche today with Adreyenn and get a bit of feedback…My background is that I own two separate companies an organic culinary nursery and a landscape design firm. I am currently in a holistic nutrition program at Hawthorn University. I am selling organic kitchen garden vegetables and designing kitchen gardens through my one company ardenwoods edibles. My other company (ardenwoods landscape design) does strictly residential design and it currently supports my nursery business.

    http://ardenwoodsedibles.com/
    http://ardenwoodslandscapedesign.com/

My niche for ardenwoods edibles is:
I help busy families get their home-gardens set up fast so they can enjoy growing their own fresh and organic vegetables without having to spend a lot of time, money or energy to get it done.

I am thinking now after listening to all the lectures with Stacey and Carey the last few weeks and now just what Adreyenn just said–I think I need a product. I am not sure how committed people are to building their own kitchen gardens or buying organic vegetable plants.

    • I love kitchen gardens! Your challenge first off is that your site has very little traffic.

Your best keywords on your site are “lettuce seeds” and “greens seeds”. I would add “seeds seeds seeds” and “seed to seed”. Both are several million searches a month and will be able to bring you in much more traffic and the right kind of buyers.

      • nysha says:

thank you for all your time today. great call! ok. i am lame. someone help set up my site…but how do i add key words? is it through the google anyltics area or google keyword tools?

        • PJ Van Hulle says:

Well, you can do the keyword research with the keyword tool. Adryenn just generously did some keyword research for you & suggested some to try.

The easiest thing to do now is to tell your web person to optimize your site for those keywords.

When you add blog posts, use those keywords in the titles & posts. There’s so much you can do! That’s an easy start. : D

    • PJ Van Hulle says:

      Cute site! : D

You will DEFINITELY love the interview we’re going to do on 9/13 on the 7 Steps to Creating Your Client Attraction Blueprint. So I recommend you put it on your calendar.

In the meantime, YES, adding a product (especially a digital info product, in my opinion) as an additional profit center is a great idea for the scalability & leverage & potential automation it would create for you.

Of course, as Adryenn pointed out, if your site has very little traffic, even having a product isn’t going to make much of a difference.

Glad you’re working with Stacey and Carey. They are AWESOME!

      • nysha says:

: ) love the girls. it is on my calendar. now to come up with a product!

  • Wendy says:

Please explain more clearly the steps to take to get the information about how much traffic comes to a site and the cost per click.

    • PJ Van Hulle says:

I think what you’re looking for is keyword research.

      Go to Google
Do a search for “keyword tool”
      Click on the link
Type in a word or phrase that you want to try
      Click “Search”

That will show you competition, other related keywords, global & monthly searches so you can get an idea of how many people are searching for that keyword.

      • PJ Van Hulle says:

I was using a paid program (that I don’t recommend) for cost-per-click. Adryenn, what do you use?

        • I just use Google Keyword Tool. It’s free and very effective at giving me the information I need.

      • Wendy says:

        Thank you!

  • Thank you from the travel agent!

  • Erin says:

How do you tell people “what I cure” when I’m want to market fine maritime art paintings?

    • Stephanie says:

The idea here is that what do your paintings serve for others? What would they be *looking* for to find your work? That would be like key word searches you want to brand your website and information with. Wonderful question Erin… I am also thinking that you might want to look at previous client base and see what age group, who are they: Who have bought previously..

    • PJ Van Hulle says:

I’d also consider who are the types of people / businesses that would purchase these? Yacht clubs? People that are super into sailing? The problem could be that they are trying to decorate a space with a maritime theme and not finding the right art.

    • I’d target specific boats. Everyone has a favorite boat, a memory, a dream boat. If you are specific about the type of craft and/or the artist, you will draw in the right audience.

  • Margaret Owen says:

so if people have trouble sleeping, does it make sense to suggest a vacation is a great way to sleep better?

    • PJ Van Hulle says:

Ha ha! Awesome question, Margaret! You’re so cute! : D

      • PJ Van Hulle says:

Did Adryenn’s answer work for you?

        • Margaret Owen says:

          yes, thank you!

          • PJ Van Hulle says:

Yay! Cool! I think the Rhine River Cruise stuff is hot. We did the keyword research on that already. The other cruise, too (I forget which one it was). But doing blog posts about those areas will drive traffic to your travel site from people that are searching for those keywords.

    • Love selling a vacation for sleep problems! Might not convert but will probably get a lot of attention!

  • PJ Van Hulle says:

    Here’s a link to Adryenn’s page: http://tinyurl.com/tncadryennfree

  • Is using too broad of a niche a bad idea? So for a travel agent, European Travel OR instead,
    Italy & France Travel?

    • PJ Van Hulle says:

Did you get the answer you needed on the call?

  • Erin says:

Where do you see the cost per click?

    • Once you log in to Google Keyword Tool you can select which columns to view and Average CPC is one of them!

  • Given says:

    Thank you for the definition.

  • Robyn says:

Unfortunately, she isn’t really explaining how to do anything. She is conducting the conversation as if it is directed to people who know how to do this already and are attending an industry conference rather than as a teaching tool. Why is she talking about cost per click on a niche call? Who are her clients, and what does she do?

    • PJ Van Hulle says:

This has to do with figuring out if it’s a profitable niche. She’s saying if people are paying $1 or more per click, it’s worth pursuing.

      • PJ Van Hulle says:

She’s also super techy so I asked a few questions to have her break it down (like the keyword tool and analytics). If you’re still unclear on how to do something, post it here & we’ll break it down further for you.

        • Robyn says:

Thanks PJ. I am clear on the How after she explained more about the price per click, but she isn’t talking about the Why. The question that you just asked was very helpful in how to pick a niche. Where to find your niche is another question that people may have. I’m a business coach, so I am listening with a coaching ear. People don’t know how to decide with whom they would like to work or support or sell to.

          • Anne says:

I really appreciate your comments on how to direct the call, this is great feedback!

          • PJ Van Hulle says:

Yes, Robin, I totally agree. That’s why we’re doing this interview series. It’s SUCH a big topic! And one that gets SO many coaches & consultants stuck & tripped up.

    • Robyn says:

      Thanks, Adryenn!

  • The best way to drive people to “like” your business page on facebook? Offer something?

    • Robyn says:

Ask people to like you. Post a request for Likes on your personal page. Another idea is to comment on posts on pages where your niche hangs out. They’ll see you and get to know you. That will lead them to your page.

      • Stephanie says:

There are also some really amazing Welcome Pages now that you can embed video and makes it more personal for people to connect with you, via encouraging them to like you. A great resource to learn more about these techniques is http://www.TheSocialROI.com and you can check their facebook page out as well. 🙂

        • PJ Van Hulle says:

          Go Stephanie! : D

      • PJ Van Hulle says:

I recommend checking out Austin Walsh’s Facebook FANS system (He’ll be speaking on TNC at the beginning of October). You can get it for only $27 right now, and it’s totally worth it. That’s how I turned my Facebook page into an opt in page, and he gives some great training.

    • Offer great quality content, use Facebook as your page and make comments on other people’s pages, and then participate in cross promotion opportunities where you can showcase your talent on other blogs, pages, or forums. It doesn’t matter if you get the “like” you want to make it static by getting the engagement!

  • Given says:

What is the definition of ‘organic’ as used when talking about the Google Dey Word Tool?

    • PJ Van Hulle says:

Adryenn is talking about this now.

    • Anne says:

Thanks for your specific questions. We really want to help people feel like they have a handle on the terminology as well as finding your niche.

      • PJ Van Hulle says:

        Totally!

  • i’m writing a book due out sept/oct would like to really advertise the inspirational message everywhere! can Anne help me get on tv, radio and newsletters? i want to be seen and engage with many!

    • Stephanie says:

Ana Maria.. A wonderful way person I know is Lisa Elia who specializes in PR and getting you on these mainstream news outlets. If you want I could do an introduction for you. Let me know!! 🙂

      • PJ Van Hulle says:

Thanks for sharing the resource, Stephanie! That’s hot! : D

    • Hi Ana!
I’m teaching this at Red Carpet Results at the end of the month! Please come! This will totally help your book launch!

      • PJ Van Hulle says:

        Awesome!

You couldn’t have picked a better kickoff speaker!! Go Adryenn!

    • Anne says:

      I agree!

      • PJ Van Hulle says:

        YAY! Thanks, Liz! : D

    • Thanks! So glad you were on the call!

  • Stephanie says:

I am on.. and now I can hear you all. There was some weird hanging up in the beginning, but I am on now and feel honored to be a part of it.

    • PJ Van Hulle says:

Awesome! Thanks for your perseverance! : D

      • PJ Van Hulle says:

Just switched conference call line providers to Maestro Conference so hopefully everyone will be able to dial into the rest of the TNC calls easily. Thanks for your patience & flexibility! : D

  • Evelyn says:

Facebook has a really powerful service called Linqto. Takes lots of people and is $8/month. Very stable. Has camera and sound and recording. I can hear clearly and easily but it’s another option.

    • PJ Van Hulle says:

      Thank you! That’s a great resource! : D
