I really got alot out of your presentation, Linda. Thank you so much! I was tossing around the idea of doing a giveaway this fall, but I guess that’s cutting it too close from what you said. So I feel rather relieved that its not good timing actually. I will work on something for late winter perhaps. In the meantime, also great to have it clarified how good it is to join other ones that have a cost to join. I was on the fence about that!

I also participated in your event as a visitor, and it is a wonderful giveaway! I hope I will eventually find my way into qualifying as a giver as well. 🙂

    • Linda says:

      Thanks, Kim!

Well, you could eke one out in November. And maybe having one in December (close to holiday gift-giving time) would be great timing. I say go for it!

  • Casey says:

I just found this if anyone would like to see an example:

  • niki says:

QQQ Thanks so much, Linda and PJ for a very detailed session. PJ, you ask the best questions! You always seem to ask the “hard” questions that we’re thinking at home. And, Linda, thank you for being so giving and thorough with your answers. The best take-away was to create an operations manual for future events so as not to ‘reinvent the wheel’ each time.

One question: is there an optimal number of contributors and gifts? Or, is it the more the better?

    Really appreciated the call today,

    Niki

    • Linda says:

Thanks, Niki. I appreciate that. And you’re right…PJ is a great interviewer!

Kim and I used to think that there was such a thing as “too many” contributors and gifts. We were feeling protective of the visitors. But we discovered that people really love all the gifts and were definitely not complaining of the number of gifts.

  • Casey says:

Hi! Loved the session. I hadn’t considered a giveaway event until now. The project manager was a great tip.
Any suggestions on the types of giveaways say, for life coaches, energy healers, and nuitritionists?

    Thanks!!

    • Linda says:

Pick your theme based on the “problems” that your audience want to solve and then give gifts that help solve them.

With our done-for-you theme, for example, one problem we are solving is overwhelm. Solo entrepreneurs have so much on their plate…sometimes they just need someone to do it FOR them. That’s how you begin the brainstorming for your giveaway theme.

  • Tony Dollars says:

Hi Linda, this has been awesome. I wonder how it would work for a fund raiser event where I’m building the list to help someone in need?

    Thanks,
    Tony

    • Linda says:

Tony, could you give me a few more details about your intentions with this?

  • Linda says:

Hi all, I’m here to answer questions! To start with, here’s the link some of you were asking for to get the checklist: http://tinyurl.com/lbc14linda

    • Linda says:

Hmmm. Not sure what happened to my gravatar…anyway. I’ll start at the top!

      • Erica says:

QQQ What is the logistics for securing a partner to help with the GiveAway?
How to you find a partner?
How would the compensation work out?

        • Linda says:

Erica, just answered above in your original post.

  • Theresa says:

We created an event with a couple of other complimentary service providers as well but it certainly was not as organized as Linda’s. Good take-away and ideas. Thank you for sharing.

    • Linda says:

You’re welcome, Theresa! I enjoyed it!

  • Erica says:

QQQ What is the logistics for securing a partner to help with the GiveAway?
How to you find a partner?
How would the compensation work out?

    • Linda says:

I guess the first thing I would look for is someone who serves a similar market and has other things that align with you (outlook, sensibilities, approach, etc.). Also someone who is going to be as much of a professional as you and whose dedication to the project you can count on.

It seems like you might have some partners here in this community!

My giveaway partner and I run the contributor fees through my cart, and I pay all the bills. If there’s any leftover, I send her half of that, but it’s usually negligible.

  • Erica says:

I actually have an editorial calendar which I use for blogging and promo events combined using Google and I love it!

  • Corinne says:

    Hello PJ,
What is the link for Linda’s product?
Thank you for the offer, Linda!

  • Coach Stacy says:

What an interesting event idea! Linda, what have you found so far to be the best country to work from (resource wise)? And where would you head off to work tomorrow if you could?

    • Linda says:

Ahhh, Stacy. You’re asking my favorite question! I can’t really say what the best country to work from is from a resource perspective because I only travel to places I really want to go — regardless of the resource situation. I just make it work wherever I am. Sometimes that results in some pretty funny experiences!

I’m itching to go to Prague, Amsterdam, Croatia, Argentina. And Italy ALWAYS has my heart!

      • Coach Stacy says:

        Lol Linda,

It looks like Europe really has your heart – Italy it is!

Working while overseas is something worth looking into, it really does sounds like a ‘How-to-have-your-cake-and-eat-it-too’ situation.

Listening to that part of your talk earlier, you really reminded me of a journalist whose articles I have crossed paths with a few times, she has a blog as well, something like ‘HomeAwayFromHome,’ her long story short – she & her dh (dear husband) sold their house as soon as they become empty-nesters, and packed up their suitcases to the horror of their children & other family members and they have been traveling the world ever since, returning to family for the Christmas holidays – he was reluctant at first but she has always LOVED it and planned everything rather meticulously, you should check out her blog. Who knows, maybe one day you chat chat with her outside of a cafe in France – Ahh, oui 😉

Thanks again for the encouragement & inspiration!

  • Corinne says:

    Hello Linda and PJ!

    It’s Corinne http://brazenbschool.com

Thank you for so much information!
I wasn’t sure how many promo emails to ask to send.
    3 is great.

Bought Adam Urbanski’s program PJ- it’s why I started the giveaway for JVs
Set it up and did the prewritten copy and the site. Listapalooza made me get into action on it.

Linda is a rock-star with the Done for You Giveaway- I am SO grateful you’re offering your insider’s edge.

    You are both so thoughtful.

    • Linda says:

Thank you so much, Corinne. Good luck on your own giveaway!

  • Linda says:

???Based on your theme, how do you account for cross-overs in the presenters (and your) list? Percentage? Not usually enough to worry about? Always different?

    • Linda says:

Linda, not sure completely what you’re asking. Do you mean crossover in the gifts being offered or something else?

In our giveaway, we say that the contributors’ gifts cannot overlap. That’s challenging sometimes when several contributors want to give something, for example, related to sales. We help them “angle” the gift so that it’s unique.

If it was something else you were asking, please clarify.

      • Linda says:

Sorry, I typed it in fast. I meant in the mailing lists of potential attendees. There must be a certain number of duplicate names, list to list.

  • Whew! I’m so glad she mentioned that she will provide a checklist – there’s so much good information on this call!

  • chris says:

I participated in the event that Linda is speaking of and it was really valuable and full of value. I loved it.

  • niki says:

    Hey, everybody!

Happy to be here again. I’ve also joined in the last several events of Linda’s and was totally amazed at the great value being offered by the contributors. Maybe some of us in List-a-Palooza should join up and do our own event. I know from having been on these calls and blogs for weeks together that there are some fabulous people in this group. Together we could create a fantastic give-away. Send me an e-mail at nikirebin@gmail.com if you’d like to start a conversation about that potential.

    All the best,

    Niki

    Woo Hoo! Another List-A-Palooza

I’m Coach Adam in Los Angeles, CA. I love helping people bring out their passion and develop it into their Livelihood.  Before I discovered my passion I worked jobs I didn’t like, that sucked the life out of me just to make money.  I hate to see anyone do that so I created a program to help people identify their passion and discover how to make their living doing what they Love.
