Developing Your Facebook Fan Page Strategy for Your Niche

(with Michele Scism)

In this exclusive FREE teleclass, you will learn:

• How to use Facebook to drive massive traffic to your site

• The #1 reason your ideal clients are ignoring you

• How to get around the roadblocks that stop people from creating a page that works for their niche.

Is your fan page pulling its weight in your business? A well-designed (and maintained) page can create a never-ending stream of qualified ideal clients in your niche and for your business. Unfortunately, many businesses aren’t using their fan pages to their fullest potential (if they even have one).

In this interview, Michele will share the three things business owners can do to create fabulous (and effective) Facebook fan page that positions them as a key player in their niche.

Her clients call her “The Results Lady” because as a business strategist she uses her signature “Take Action Get Profits” system to help entrepreneurs get visibility and then to turn that visibility into profits.

I also cannot get anything when I try to listen to the replay – on IE or Google Chrome. From these comments, it looks like a really good session to hear.

    Help!

  • Laurel Ricci says:

Last nite tried to access Michele’s recording. Play button doesn’t work. Would love to listen and 48 hours ending today on Thursday. Thank you!

  • Judit says:

    Hi,
I cannot listen to Michele’s recording at all on the page. I tried both IE and Firefox. And we are in the 48 hours timeframe still.
    Any solutions?
    Thanks!

    Kindly,
    Sara

    • PJ Van Hulle says:

      Hi Sara,

I’m using Mozilla Firefox. I just tested Michele’s recording, and it’s working fine for me.

  • oookaaayy–Thats my shaky techy voice . . .Thanks for all the support. : )

    • PJ Van Hulle says:

LOL. Just take it one step at a time. I can walk you through it on one of our mastermind calls, if you’d like. : D

  • Great call! Lots of value and tips. It was especially good to know that a good fanpage marketing strategy can be maintained in about and hour a day.

    • PJ Van Hulle says:

Yeah! I already loved Facebook, and now I’m more excited than ever. : D

      • Do you have to have infusion soft to use that resource–I have 1Shopping Cart? . . . YES, I am way more excited about my new-born fan page.

        • PJ Van Hulle says:

No. It doesn’t matter what CRM you’re using for the FANS System. It just gives you the step-by-step instructions and the HTML code that you need to set up a welcome page like that.

It also gives you instructions on how to change each piece to fit your own business.

You’ll create a web form in 1ShoppingCart, copy that HTML code, and paste it in to link up your fan page with your CRM.

I know that sounds super techy, but it’s very doable with that system. Copy and paste.

  • In an earlier comment Pj, you said that you would post a resource iframes. I see an infusion soft resource. Is that it?

  • Hi, I’m a life coach who focuses on relationships. I have personal and business FB pages. I would prefer to keep my personal page private for my actual friends and family, and not mix the two worlds, but what do I do when I meet someone networking and they try to friend me rather than finding my biz page? Is there any way around this?

Thanks for the call – I got several aha’s from it and already renamed my FB business page to include keywords 🙂

    • PJ Van Hulle says:

      Awesome!

I’d say if you really really really want to keep your personal page reserved for close friends and family only, you could consider creating 2 personal pages AND a fan page.

One personal page could be your name that people actually search for that you use for business and networking as well as friendship. The other “secret” personal page could be a nickname that your friends and family get but no one would ever search for.

Personally, I use the same personal page for friends and family as well as business contacts and I don’t post anything that I wouldn’t want everyone to see.

    • Hey Hilary – Well Facebook has a rule that says we can only have 1 personal page so be careful with that one. But there is another way around it. 1. You can create lists of friends. Just click on Account then Friends and you will see the option to create lists. I have my personal friends and family in a list. When we create an event or I send out a post that I don’t want going to my friends and family I can exclude that list. Which leads me to 2. When you are posting an update you will see a lock symbol next to “share” you can click on that and choose who you do or don’t want to see the update. Hope that helps.

      • PJ Van Hulle says:

Oops! I didn’t know about that rule! Thanks, Michele!

  • Lucy Taylor says:

Thank you Michelle for all this fabulous information!

Thanks PJ and Ann for making this call possible.

    • Thanks Lucy – do you have a fan page?

  • Emily Levy says:

  • Margaret Owen says:

When Michele says be sure to connect with for tagging…what does that mean? For example, if PJ shows on my wall, that means I’m connected, right?

    • PJ Van Hulle says:

If you’re not connected with someone (for example, if you don’t “like” their page), Facebook won’t allow you to use the @ symbol to create a little blue link back to their page.

If you’re able to pull up my friend or fan page with the @ symbol when you do your status updates, then yes, we’re connected. : D

    • PJ is exactly right. You want to make sure that you are either personally connected (as personal friends on Facebook) or you want to “like” their page. Actually I would recommend both. You want to have that done before you try to tag them. :))

  • Why a FB fan page vs a FB groups page?

    • PJ Van Hulle says:

I personally like the fan page because you can link it up to your CRM and turn it into an opt in page. I don’t think you can do that with groups. I’m curious to see what Michele says.

    • Hey Cyndee, A group is like a forum for a certain niche and a fan page is like a website for your business. With a fan page you can modify it – make it look different than other fan pages – make it unique. You can also contact your fans through their messages box and never reach a limit. And not to mention the SEO possibilities.

The way I use groups – I set them up for participants in a certain program or a group of people that have a common interest. But that interest is not necessarily my business. I also don’t have the ability to make changes to groups. There are limitations to what can be imported to a group and you can’t do outside tagging. Meaning – you can only tag members in the group so you really are limited in one of my main ways to share the word about my business. Hope that helps.

  • Emily Levy says:

Is there a way to get a direct link to a particular post on your fan page, to use the strategy you just mentioned about posting one of your old blog posts to other blogs and fan pages?

    • PJ Van Hulle says:

I don’t totally understand the question. You can post the link for a particular blog post and you can post the link to your Fan Page or use @ to link back to your fan page, but I don’t *think* each update has its own URL.

  • Sharon says:

I created a personal FB page and a business one. I don’t actually put much “personal” stuff on my personal page – I’ve heard it said that you can stand in front of your business (like Oprah) or behind your business (like Steve Jobs). I realize that standing in front works better for me. People hear me speak at a conference or festival, they look me up and friend me.

Should I shut down my biz page? Right now my newsletter pushes out to it. I have tried posting regularly, asking questions, etc and didn’t get much traffic. My personal page has a reasonable following and people Like photos that I post and respond/ask questions.

    thanks!

    • PJ Van Hulle says:

There are limits to the personal page. Michele recommends keeping your biz page going. I concur!

    • PJ Van Hulle says:

      Woo-hoo! : D

    • Perfect Cyndee – I love that you are promoting writing books to your clients – I think that is a huge tool. Definitely something that can be promoting on a fan page.

  • Sharon says:

so how does one create an FB page like you have? In other words, one which opens with the option for people to sign up for a newsletter?

    • PJ Van Hulle says:

Search for “iframes” in Facebook. It’s a free service that will allow you to set up an HTML page. I’ll post a resource in a sec.

  • Emily Levy says:

It’d be really helpful if you’d clarify the level of the information you’ll be covering. So far it sounds like the call is for people who haven’t yet delved into the social media world. From the original description I thought this would be a more advanced call. Will you help the audience use our time well by clarifying who this call is designed to serve? Thank you in advance.

    • Emily Levy says:

      Thank you.

    • PJ Van Hulle says:

Glad you got some new tips! : D

    • PJ Van Hulle says:

Definitely needed! What is some of the specific behind-the-scenes work that you help them get done?

    • Emily – That is so exciting – info products are so powerful.
